Set the right course
A parent chooses the exam board, exact specification, exam year, tier where relevant and school-selected options. If you are unsure, the app can use clearly labelled general practice while you check.
Android-first GCSE revision · In development
Independent syllabus-style practice, a friendly robot tutor and a linked parent companion — built to help teenagers focus on the next useful question, not another overwhelming dashboard.
Launch plan and pricing are provisional while the Android apps and reviewed content are completed.
The idea
Revision works better when the app knows the course, the current topic and what needs another look. GCSE AURA is being designed around small, useful sessions that fit alongside school. The first release is geared towards the 2027 exams, and its course mappings and revision content will be reviewed and updated each year to reflect the current syllabus.
A parent chooses the exam board, exact specification, exam year, tier where relevant and school-selected options. If you are unsure, the app can use clearly labelled general practice while you check.
The learner sees their name, chosen subject and a focused route through original questions, hints, worked explanations and a persistent scratch pad.
Progress, attempts, time spent and weaker areas feed back to the linked parent companion, helping families decide where the next revision session should go.
Why we’re making it
GCSE AURA began because we wanted to help our teenage daughter with the GCSE learning she is actually doing at school. We wanted something focused, manageable and course-aware—something that could show her the next useful step without turning revision into another source of pressure.
As we built it, we realised plenty of other teenagers and parents are wrestling with the same problem. So we decided to turn the tool we were making for one family into something that might help many more.
A family idea, developed into an independent revision app by Pushing Pixels.
The learner app
The interface is energetic without being childish: graphic, direct and built around a clear next action. The learner can pick a subject, hear prompts through Android text-to-speech and continue exactly where they stopped.
Course-aware revision
The first active content work covers AQA Geography, Mathematics, English Language and English Literature. The wider roadmap spans the main GCSE subjects and specialist options shown below. Every route is shaped around the topics, terminology, command words and answer depth the learner is meeting at school—but it is independent practice, not a copy of an awarding body’s paper.
Start with the subjects your teenager needs help with now, then add another whenever it becomes useful. Every subject is unlocked separately, so you only pay for what you choose—there is no need to buy the whole set.
Active content development · Other subjects are planned and will be released only after course mapping and independent review.

Meet the study partner
The tutor is there to keep things moving: read a prompt aloud, surface a hint, celebrate effort and point back to the explanation when an answer misses. It is not a chatbot pretending to be a teacher.
His name is Brian. We are not entirely sure why. Somebody called him Brian once, he looked like a Brian, and by that point it felt awkward to change it.
Press the button. Brian will introduce himself.
Uses a voice available on this device.“One question at a time.”
Spoken prompts use the voices already available on the Android device. The learner can mute the tutor and continue silently at any time.
The parent companion
A separate password-protected Android companion is planned for parents to manage the important decisions. It links to the learner through a short-lived pairing code or QR code and keeps payment details away from the child app.
Buy only what helps
Try 100 stable, reviewed questions for a chosen subject and exam-board route free. If it helps, unlock 1,500+ questions for a planned one-off 99p per subject for the lifetime of the app. Add more subjects as you need them—or stop at one. You never have to purchase the whole catalogue.

£0.99Built to support school
Original questions and revision tasks skewed towards the learner’s selected GCSE course—never copied from AQA or any other awarding body’s papers.
The app supports school teaching, textbooks, coursework, fieldwork and teacher guidance. It does not replace them.
The app will not guess a board. Parents see and choose the exact route, with general practice clearly labelled when needed.
Draft banks and prototypes are in active development. Content reaches learners only after course, accuracy and rights checks.
Course-focused, not paper-copied: GCSE AURA follows the relevant subject content, terminology, command words and expected response depth of the course being studied. It does not reproduce AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Eduqas, CCEA or any other awarding body’s questions or papers. The app is independent, is not affiliated with or endorsed by an awarding body, and does not guarantee grades.

Quick answers
Not yet. The Android apps, course controls and reviewed content are in active development. Join the update list for launch news.
No. The product is designed around a parent choosing the board and exact course separately for each subject. Practice is skewed towards the content and assessment language of that chosen route, but the questions are independently written rather than copies of AQA or any other awarding body’s papers. Initial active content work is focused on selected AQA routes before broader rollout.
The first release is geared towards pupils sitting GCSE exams in 2027. Course mappings and revision content will be reviewed and updated each year so the app reflects the current syllabus.
No. It is independent supplementary practice designed to reinforce lessons and help identify knowledge gaps.
The current plan is 100 free questions for a chosen subject-and-board sample, followed by a planned one-off 99p per subject for access to 1,500+ questions for the lifetime of the app, purchased through the parent app using Google Play Billing. Pick one subject or ten and add them whenever you need them—you never have to buy the complete set. Final store pricing may change.
Access continues while GCSE AURA remains available and supported by Pushing Pixels. It does not mean the app, updates, download availability or compatibility with future devices and operating systems will continue forever. If paid access fails or ends unreasonably soon after purchase, you retain any statutory remedies. Read the draft Purchase Terms for support, closure, compatibility, restoration and refunds.
No. Course settings, assignments, entitlements and optional incentives belong in the password-protected parent companion.
